As a long time established German engineering and consulting company, decon international provides a comprehensive package of engineering and advisory services worldwide and accompanies infrastructure projects in the areas of energy, renewables, energy efficiency, water, waste water, and smart cities.

With quality and innovation as the driving factors, the aim is to provide professional expertise on an international level to meet environmental challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity. For a long time, decon international has been serving the demand of public authorities, ministries, supply companies, energy and water utilities, national and international financial institutions/ investors as well as development banks. By prioritizing commitment and impulse partnerships, our greatest concern is to meet all clients’ and stakeholders’ demands.

To further strengthen this approach, decon international is certified by ISO 9001:2015 (quality management), ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (protection of labor). Our long-standing experience is reflected in the implementation of more than 1500 projects in over 140 countries since 1972.

decon international is headquartered in Bad Homburg, close to Frankfurt am Main. It also has a satellite office on the EUREF Campus Berlin, centre of the so-called “energy transition” (“Energiewende”). Our parent company Tilia Group is headquartered in Leipzig, Germany and Paris, France.
Since 1985, decon international has implemented more than 35 projects in the power distribution, renewable energy and wastewater sectors. We have worked in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Our parent company, Tilia Group, has been modernising sanitation and wastewater treatment in Vietnam since 2015.
decon international has implemented over 100 projects in Latin America, starting with an electricity project in Colombia. Since 1975, decon international has completed projects in Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the USA and Venezuela. Areas of focus are energy, as well as rural water supply and sanitation. This also includes the related policy advice in these fields. A representative office is located in Managua, Nicaragua.
Since the 1990s, decon international has implemented over 100 projects in the Commonwealth of Independent States. We have worked in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Sectors of focus have been energy, solid waste, bulk and potable water and wastewater. In energy, we have credentials in generation (particularly, renewables), distribution, efficiency/conservation, as well as capacity building for regulators and policymakers.
Since 1977, decon international has completed almost 100 projects across Africa. We have worked in Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Sectors of focus have been rural electrification, energy efficiency/conservation, potable water and sanitation.

We have worked in Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and Yemen. Sectors of focus have been renewable energy, wastewater treatment and sanitation. The project office of decon international is located in Beirut, Lebanon.
In 1992, decon international implemented its first project in Albania. Since then, the company has completed projects in Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania and Serbia. Sectors of focus include district heating, renewable energy, electricity transmission and distribution, energy efficiency/ conservation, wastewater treatment. We have also advised regulators in the water and waste sectors.

Our History

decon international traces back to 1972 and 2004, when its predecessor entities, namely decon (Deutsche Energie-Consult Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH) and MVV Consulting were founded. In 2008 they merged to MVV decon and in 2015, a new subsidiary, decon international GmbH, was formed to emphasize the group’s expanding geographic footprint. In 2016, decon international became part of the Tilia Group.

Our Team

decon international employs approximately 100 staff, including high-quality experts, permanent employees and associated freelancers from different sectors. The team consists of experts from various technical and engineering disciplines as well as commercial and economic disciplines.

The Management Team comprises of Mr. Frederik Müller (Managing Director), Mr. Bernd Kadel and Mr. Tobias Nentwig (Energy Division) as well as Mr. Heinrich Meindl (Water Division).
